The Beaches Jazz Festival is one of Canada's largest free music festivals with thousands of attendees each year. The Festival takes place across a number of venues; stage concerts are held in several different parks within the area and also along a three kilometre stretch of the Beach mainstreet during StreetFest - Queen Street East. This year’s Festival takes place from July 6 - 30, 2023.
This volunteer opportunity is perfect for anyone looking to gain experience in the running of live shows and festivals, students in need of volunteer hours, and anyone just interested in getting outside this summer to enjoy some live music!
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Volunteers at the Beaches Jazz Fest will be expected to fulfil various roles, all of which require interacting with the public. It is extremely important that volunteers feel comfortable speaking to festival go-ers and being knowledgeable about the basics of the festival.
Potential roles:
-
Merchandise seller: selling Beaches Jazz 2023 merchandise to festival patrons, keeping track of sales and inventory, answering questions about the festival

-
Ambassador: welcoming and actively engaging guests at the various Festival sites, answering general questions, and handing out brochures and/or pamphlets. Some ambassadors may also collect donations for various fundraising initiatives.
-
Floater: helping wherever is needed, providing backstage support, assisting other volunteers, staff, and musicians
Please note, if you are interested in event photography and/or filmography, see section below.
All volunteers will receive a Beaches Jazz t-shirt and lanyard and will be compensated with volunteer hours, water, and on-site refreshments.
