Digging Roots

Digging Roots

www.diggingrootsmusic.com

Digging Roots is a talented musical group comprised of vocalists, guitarists and percussionists ShoShona Kish and Raven Kanatakta, drummer and percussionist Rakesh Tewari and bassists Trevor Mills and James Forest.  Their sound is indefinable, a convergence of each of their individual styles that blurs the lines of roots, rock, hip-hop and blues.  After three years of touring in North America and Europe, Digging Roots returned to the studio to record their sophomore album, We Are.  Co-produced with Kinnie Starr, it builds on the unique strength of the band’s live sound with carefully crafted tunes, tight studio arrangements and soulful performances.  At the centre of their new album is the chemistry and songwriting of Kish and Kanatakta. Kish’s emotional range and Kanatakta’s tube-electrified guitar solos shine throughout the record.  Having just garnered a 2010 Juno award for ‘Aboriginal Album of the Year’, Digging Roots’ summer touring schedule includes stops across Canada.
