Born in Toronto, Alejandra Ribera’s Argentinean and Scottish roots are often reflected in her unique musical style.  Ribera performs a varied repertoire ranging from aching jazz ballads to Mexican folk tunes but most prefers the alt-pop genre.  She recently released an elegantly simple CD sampler including eight of her own songs and a unique version of Cielito Lindo, a Mexican folk standard sung in Spanish.  Her four-piece band, all graduates of the Humber College jazz program, skillfully match the quality of her voice.  With a new album in the works, Ribera is on the verge of far wider musical acceptance.
