King Sunshine

King Sunshine

www.kingsunshine.com

Since 1998, Toronto-based group King Sunshine has been turning out explosive melodies that blend disco, house, funk and dance. The nine musicians, together, make up a mega DJ, mixing keyboards, percussion, bass, guitar and vocals. Since the release of their second album Second Movement in 2006, King Sunshine has been branching out to new segments of music lovers worldwide. Experiences at Canada’s largest music festivals including the Montreal Jazz Festival, Ottawa Blues Festival, Toronto Jazz Festival, Beaches International Jazz Festival, Toronto Harbourfront Festivals and Halifax’s Evolve Festival has brought King Sunshine nationwide recognition. Years of sold-out club shows and underground parties have led to shared stages with music's finest DJs, including Theo Parrish, DJ Sneak, Mark Farina, Derrick Carter, Ron Trent and Little Louis Vega. King Sunshine’s raw explosive energy takes dance music off of vinyl and brings it to the live stage. King Sunshine emulates a DJ approach by building up their climaxes and breakdowns and mixing their songs together into one continuous seamless set of music. Band members include Phil Cada on guitar, Marc Shapiro on bass guitar/vocals, Lorne Lampert on percussion/electronics, Roger Berman on drums, Maya Chilton on lead vocals, Rob Bazanson on keyboard, Steve Dyte on Trumpet, Charlie Finley on Saxophone and Christian Overton on trombone. People have described King Sunshine’s concerts as deep and moving and "a powerful, unforgettable, rhythmic experience".
