Independent Music Award winner for 2007 ‘Best Live Act’, KC Roberts brings a fierce sound that seamlessly blends funk and jazz with contemporary hip hop, house, jungle and rock. Besides being the composer and arranger of his eight-piece funk orchestra, he is also a guitarist, singer and MC. KC and his various original groups have shared the stage with such big names as The Black Eyed Peas, Z-trip, Talib Kweli, Rihanna, Jimmy Cliff, The Pocket Dwellers, DJ Serious and Jim Cuddy. KC has also contributed guitar work to music by Grammy-nominated Gospel artist Martha Munizzi and played lead guitar and toured with 2007 Canadian Idol winner, Brian Melo. On the tour, KC performed on MTV Canada, Hamilton Place Theatre and recorded for the Sympatico/MSN Orange Room Sessions. One notable concert found KC playing guitar at the late Montreal Bistro alongside critically acclaimed pianist and composer Dave Restivo, Juno award-winning bass player Brandi Disterheft and Matt Dusk’s former drummer Larnell Lewis. In 2008, KC flew to Kenya and Tanzania touring as lead guitar player for Canadian-based African band Krystaal and played guitar on Cuban-jazz trumpet virtuoso, Alexis Baró’s new record From the Other Side. KC’s studio debut album It All Went Down has been very well-received, garnering positive reviews. With a new disc being mixed and recorded, 2009 is panning out to be an exciting new year for KC.
