Volunteer Application Application Period: January 1, 2008 - July 11, 2008


Thank you for your interest in volunteering! We look forward to having you come on board. For our 20th Anniversary celebration we will be accepting Volunteer Applications from January 1, 2008 - July 11, 2008.

Benefits To You
  • Shifts will be approximately 5 or 6 hours long.
  • You will be asked to attend a Volunteer training session. The session will take place in May and/or June and you will be notified in advance.

Participation Guidelines
  • Your own special edition volunteer T-shirt (must be worn at all times when on duty)
  • An invitation to our Volunteer Appreciation Event at the end of the Festival
  • An opportunity to enjoy music, have fun, make friends, and give back to your community!

Job Opportunities For Volunteering
The following provides a short description of the positions that are available for volunteering. Please select only two (2) jobs. Rank the jobs by selecting #1 or #2 in order of preference or "Not Interested".

Stage Manager Assistance
Ranking
Volunteers are responsible for assisting with stage or equipment set-up and take-down, loading or unloading. They ensure the performers are lined up for their show times and provide other support for the bands and stage manager, as required.

Clean-up / Maintenance
Ranking
Volunteers will assist with recycling and maintaining the general cleanliness of the site, including the areas in and around the stages.

Information Booth / Ambassadors
Ranking
Stationed at information booths and/or roving on the site, volunteers will assist people with directions, amenities on and off-site, performance times, general questions and participate in conducting on-site “Festival” surveys.

Fund Raising
Ranking
Circulating through the crowd, volunteers will promote sponsorship of the Festival through the sale of raffle tickets, festival buttons and programs and any other activities associated with on-site fundraising initiatives.

Workshop Support
Ranking
Volunteers will provide liaison with the artists/workshop leaders, set up the facilities, handle sign-in, direct traffic and collect workshop performance evaluations.

Traffic Management / Band Support
Ranking
Volunteers will be responsible for security and crowd control on Queen St. and surrounding streets, placing barricades at the ends of streets to control traffic, helping police with pedestrians crossing the street. They may be asked to assist with “Friendly Tow” and providing security for the “Friendly Tow” parking lot. Lifting is required.

Volunteers will also provide direction regarding equipment set-up and signage to the bands and any other related support for bands and other artists performing on the street.

Transportation
Ranking
Volunteers meet the artists at the airport and drive performers from the airport to hotels and to the concert venues. Transportation volunteers must have a valid driver’s license and have experience driving vans.

Vehicle Control
Ranking
Volunteers will be responsible for directing cars into the dedicated parking area at Kew Gardens set aside for official festival business and staff vehicles.
